I am not sure why this book has so many bad reviews. I am a 5th year accounting student and find this book very easy to follow as long as you have experience with FASB standards. It is possible this book makes logical sense to me, however, since my professor offers great supplemental explanations. Still, I believe this book has great explanations and examples. The continuous problem that is at the end of each chapter problems section is great for practice. There are a few things that it doesn’t explain such as detailed explanations of the presentation of the statements but those are minor. It is definitely an easy read.

The poor reviews might be because they have the 8th edition, not the 9th edition. I have read that some say journal entries are written in paragraph form which is very wrong. Example journal entries are explained and then shown very clearly in a box below its explanation. It is even numbered so if it is referred to later, it is referenced and easy to follow.

The information you get is useful, but is hard to follow in some aspects. There are not really any examples for you to try, making it impossible for you to see if you understand the material.
